Synopsis
Bust a move.
Former NBA superstar Deon Wood craves respect, but the world treats him like a joke. His ex-wife calls him a deadbeat, his rivals rub in the fact he never won a championship and cable network executives set him up for public humiliation. Unable to take the abuse any longer, Deon uncorks an explicit rant on a nationally televised halftime show, peppered with fuck-yous and finished with a declaration that he’s a “fucking superstar.”
Deon storms off set, trailed by his hyper-loyal best friend and manager/lawyer, Pat Morton, who shepards him past rabid fans into a car chauffeured by Rudy Clark, Pat and Deon’s old high school basketball coach. Pat and Rudy are to Deon what remoras are to a tiger shark—reliant, helpful, and unconditionally supportive.
Unexpectedly, Deon’s outburst makes the show’s ratings skyrocket. Using this as leverage, Deon’s fire-breathing agent, Benita “Benny” Berkowitz works out a plan for Deon to return to the halftime show, if he apologizes to his co-star and chief rival, Tip Tracy—an inferior player with four championship rings to Deon’s zero. Deon reluctantly agrees.
The next day, the network offers Deon a 10-year, $30 million contract. But just as he’s about to put ink to paper, his ex-wife leaks a FaceTime video, in which a drunk and naked Deon admits to cheating on her in every NBA city—even Sacramento. The executives literally take the deal off the table.
A bigger joke than ever, Deon hides out at the Mortons’ house, a home where he spent many nights in high school under the care of Pat’s parents, Wally and Wanda. While reviewing the forks in the road of his past, Deon breaks down crying, realizing his life will never be the same now that the beyond-humiliating footage has leaked.
But then, Deon receives a message from legendary porn star, Layla May. Cashing in on Deon’s infamy, Layla proposes to produce an adult film—starring the two of them in the lead roles. But she stipulates conditions: Deon must get in better shape and he must make her orgasm on camera. She insists that she won’t fake it, because if they’re really going to do this, Deon has to fuck like he’s trying to win.
